1- Select an image

Before you can start converting images to black and white, you'll need to select an image that you want to work with. Whether you're using an existing image from your device or uploading one from the internet, make sure that it's the right size for what you want to do with it. If you're using a photo editing software like Photoshop, you'll also need to make sure that it's in a compatible file format. Once you have your image ready to go, you can start making adjustments.

2- Adjust the settings

Depending on the image editor or photo editing app you are using, there are various ways to adjust the settings to convert a color image to black and white.
For example, if you are using Photoshop, you can select the image and go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. This will turn the colors in the image to grayscale. You can also use the Hue/Saturation feature found in the same menu to customize the tones and shadows.

If you are using GIMP, you can click on Colors > Desaturate in the top menu bar. You can also find this feature in the Colors submenu of the Image menu. If you want more control over how the colors convert, you can use the Colorize function in the Colors menu.
If you are using a Mac, you can find an app like Colorize that allows you to easily convert your images to black and white with a few clicks. For Windows users, there are also apps like Convert Photos to Black & White that will let you quickly and easily convert your photos to black and white.

No matter which approach you use, make sure to save your image after converting it so you don’t lose your changes!

3- Save the changes

Once you have adjusted the settings for your image, it is time to save the changes. Depending on the program you are using, the steps may vary slightly. In Photoshop, click File and then Save As. In the dialogue box that appears, select your desired file format such as .png or .jpg. Then give the image a name and click Save. If you would like to save your image as a copy in a different format, select File, then Export As. In the dialogue box that appears, select your desired file format and click Export. Finally, if you are satisfied with your edits, close the image and your changes will be saved.

You now have a black and white image ready to share or print!
